If you’ve ever smiled for no obvious reason while walking the Old West Side, chances are Leo was nearby.

Leo isn’t just a dog you pass on the sidewalk — he’s part of the neighborhood rhythm. A familiar face on daily walks. A burst of joy wrapped in fur. And quite possibly the most enthusiastic participant in The Old West Side life.

Leo’s absolute favorite moments unfold on his daily neighborhood strolls — the kind of walks that feel less like a routine and more like a standing appointment with joy. Especially when the neighborhood boys are involved. To Leo, these aren’t just walks; they’re social engagements. The sidewalks become his stage, the familiar houses his audience. Every block brings the promise of a friendly wave, a quick stop for pets, or a delighted laugh when he shows off his spunky, tail-wagging charm.

Fresh air fills his lungs. Sunshine filters through the trees overhead. Faces he knows — and a few he hopes to — appear along the way. Leo moves through The Old West Side with the confidence of someone who belongs there completely, pausing often to take it all in. Adopted in 2020 and believed to be around eight years old, Leo is living proof that age is merely a suggestion. He carries his years lightly, with an energy that surprises everyone who meets him. Playful, alert, and endlessly curious, he has that unmistakable spark that draws people in. The kind that makes strangers stop mid-walk, smile without realizing it, and ask his name. Sunshine is his true love language. When the light hits just right, Leo stretches out wherever he happens to be, soaking it in as though the warmth was designed specifically for him — a small, perfect pause in the middle of the day.

And then, of course, there are treats — a topic Leo would insist deserves its own chapter. Doggy bacon reigns supreme, holding the top spot without competition. But anything his humans are eating is always worth a hopeful glance or two. Treats are his currency, generously accepted and enthusiastically remembered. Snuggles, however, are non-negotiable. They’re required daily, preferably often, and best enjoyed in sunny spots or cozy corners where naps naturally follow.

At home, Leo is lovingly spoiled by his parents, Teresa and Fabio, who ensure his days are filled with warmth, comfort, and more affection than he knows what to do with. From sunshine naps to evening cuddles, his life is a steady rhythm of care, laughter, and quiet moments that feel just as important as the big ones.

Whether he’s trotting proudly down a tree-lined street, basking in golden afternoon light, or curling up after a long day of being everyone’s favorite, Leo is a reminder of what makes The Old West Side so special. It’s not just the historic homes or the familiar streets — it’s the lives lived between them. The connections. The routines.
