Old West Side Social – May Blooms, June Succulents, and a Splash of July Spirit 🌸🌿🇺🇸

Spring and early summer were truly something special in the Old West Side.

In May, we kicked things off with a beautiful Mother’s Day-themed Social. The weather was perfect, the flowers were blooming, and the love in the air was unmistakable. We celebrated the incredible moms in our community with fresh-cut blooms, sweet treats, and thoughtful notes that brought smiles (and maybe a few happy tears). It was one of those evenings that felt like the start of something wonderful—colorful, heartfelt, and full of connection.

Then came June, and with it, a new kind of green goodness. 

For our June Old West Side Social, we swapped petals for planters and got our hands a little dirty with a DIY succulent station. The light was golden, the breeze was just right, and neighbors showed up ready to dig in—literally. Everyone went home with a mini succulent arrangement of their own. Some were tidy and minimalist, others a little wild (we see you, three-plant combos!), and every single one was adorable. There’s something grounding about planting while chatting with familiar faces and meeting new ones.

Of course, we had our signature snack spread: strawberries, coffee, tea, a bit of bubbly, and the ever-popular lemon cake (back by demand!). But the real highlight was the community—new neighbors, longtime locals, and a whole lot of easy, genuine conversation that stretched into the evening.

In July, while we took a break from our in-person gathering, we kept the community spirit going strong. Just a couple of weeks ago, we delivered over 300 red, white, and blue patriotic bags to homes throughout the neighborhood!
